Los Angeles Kings beat Coyotes 5-4

The Los Angeles Kings staged an impressive comeback against the Arizona Coyotes, rallying from a three-goal deficit to win the game 5-4 on Friday night. Drew Doughty played a starring role, scoring two goals, including the game-winner with just under two minutes remaining in the game. Mikey Anderson, Quinton Byfield, and Anze Kopitar also contributed goals for the Kings.

Matias Maccelli of Coyotes started by scoring just 37 seconds into the game. They quickly extended their lead with goals from J.J. Moser, Jack McBain, and Sean Durzi in a span of just 69 seconds. However, the Kings dominated the rest of the game and managed to catch up in the third period.

Doughty expressed confidence in his team's ability to come back, noting that they never gave up and believed in their scoring prowess. He also acknowledged the importance of improving their defensive game, as the Kings have traditionally been known for their defensive prowess.

The Kings have been in a scoring groove lately, scoring at least four goals in five of their last six games. They had previously defeated the Coyotes 6-3 in their last meeting. The Coyotes, who had been undefeated at home, were unable to maintain their lead and succumbed to the Kings' comeback.

The Kings' comeback began after Durzi's goal put the Coyotes up 4-1. Doughty's power-play goal in the second period cut the deficit to 4-2. Byfield and Kopitar then scored early in the third period to tie the game at 4. Doughty's second goal completed the comeback and secured the victory for the Kings.

Kings coach Todd McClellan praised his team's resilience and their ability to take control of the game. He emphasized the importance of displaying that intensity and directness from the beginning of the game, rather than just when they are trailing.

The Kings outshot the Coyotes 39-23 and stifled their opponents' offense, as the Coyotes went almost 16 minutes without a shot on goal after Durzi's goal. Coyotes coach Andre Tourigny acknowledged that his team's performance was uncharacteristic and stressed the need for learning and bouncing back from such games.

Overall, it was a thrilling game that showcased the Kings' offensive firepower and resilience. The Coyotes will look to regroup and bounce back from this defeat.
